“Gilding the Lily had been tagged as Tyla‘s “guitar album” due to his discovery of producer Jamie Turnbull‘s additional guitar talents. It’s obvious from the jump on opening track “Baptism By Fire” and whether solely inspired by this, or anything else, a dramatic piece of what perhaps makes this Tyla‘s best album in years”

“The first epic type number is next in ‘Don’t Ever Stop Loving Me’ which starts acoustically and builds in power. The electric guitar here takes the song to another level”

“complemented by what has to be said is some fairly epic guitar-playing in which the touch and feel might draw a tear or at least a lump in the throat”

“Canon Law is really what sets their lead guitarist Jamie Turnbull apart, showing how he is much more than someone to just endlessly shred mind numbing solos, but puts a lot of thought and care into an instrument he is clearly proud of”

“an absolute ripper of a guitar solo featuring Turnbull in more of an old-school mode, this is a well rounded rocker that fans will really enjoy.”
“a belter of a power ballad that causes mass sway in the crowd and showcases a cracking solo from Jamie”

“new guy Jamie Turnbull stepped into some pretty big shoes without dropping a note, and if he did, he was able to play such classics with sympathy and style”
